The situation at Ferrari is more critical than ever. Results are not coming, and rivals are becoming increasingly competitive. This not only widens the gap at the top but also fuels chaos within the team. The drivers are powerless, unable to provide clear explanations to the media. We see this with Charles Leclerc, who in his seven years with Ferrari has always shown his emotions, and this season they are more evident than ever. Disappointed, frustrated, and eager to be the best, the Monegasque’s hunger is high. While Lewis Hamilton may share the same desire, his past achievements and age make this ambition more measured and less immediate in terms of urgency.
Frustration, however, is clearly visible on both sides. There is only one man whose thoughts remain unclear: Fred Vasseur, team principal of the Scuderia. Interviewed by SkySportF1 Italia after qualifying and races throughout this season, the Frenchman, faced with clearly underperforming results, always points to “reasons” or “causes” that compromise on-track performance, and never takes a clear stance on what is happening.
Too calm, not “rude” enough
After careful analysis of Fred Vasseur’s behavior, only one explanation seems to emerge: the Frenchman wants to “protect” what happens internally within the team. For this reason, he prefers not to expose what is truly happening. However, if this interpretation is accurate, Fred Vasseur needs to find a balance between discretion and credibility. If he continues to undermine the latter by always providing excuses for the SF-25’s issues, the result is a total loss of trust in his communicative ability and intelligence.
Perhaps it would be better to follow the communication models of previous Ferrari team principals, such as Maurizio Arrivabene, or adopt the approach of Andrea Stella, the strong leader at McLaren, who is able to acknowledge mistakes while simultaneously protecting and celebrating everything related to his team.
