According to some data, the first improvements at Scuderia Ferrari’s home race track in Fiorano have been observed, but Bahrain will be the real important test. By now, it is known that discussing Ferrari’s improvements before the start of the season brings excessive enthusiasm, later tempered by tests in Bahrain.
We have seen this in recent seasons when the much-anticipated “car with unprecedented speed” turned out to be a vehicle with quite a few problems. For this reason, starting from the presentation, the second under Fred Vasseur’s era, the Scuderia opted for a more intimate ceremony compared to last season.
First Encouraging Data at Fiorano
According to some data collected during the filming day of the past days, it seems that the SF-24 has lapped about eight-tenths faster than the SF-23. Charles Leclerc, in fact, reportedly clocked at 56.81 seconds, while Carlos Sainz’s best lap seems to have been around 57.21 seconds, times well below those of the previous year.
Obviously, these are numbers that leave much to be interpreted, considering it is impossible to know configurations and work programs. Furthermore, as we reported on the filming day, Scuderia Ferrari decided to test two different engine cover configurations right from the start, with Charles Leclerc using two different “fins” during the day.
What is certain, according to various circulating rumors, is that with the new Ferrari single-seater, the team seems to have made a real step forward compared to a challenging 2023. Now we just have to wait for the three days of testing in Bahrain to verify the success or failure of the newly born SF-24 car.
