Indeed, we are aware of the thoughts crossing your mind. This comparison might seem illogical, and that’s accurate. The debut of the new Ferrari SF-24 showcased a livery reminiscent of the Le Mans 2023 winner, its counterpart with covered wheels, the 499P LMH. Despite sharing an aesthetic, they are fundamentally distinct, designed for competing in entirely different arenas. In recent months, the Youtube channel “Italiansupercarvideo” documented various Hypercars in action, not exclusively Ferraris. Over these days, bystanders and enthusiasts engaged in discussions, contemplating the time differentials between a prototype sports car like the 499P and an F1 car. Admittedly, they aren’t directly comparable, a consensus we can all reach. However, the virtual comparison aims to provide an understanding of the potential real-time distinctions on the same track. The presence of both Maranello cars at the Fiorano Circuit presented an ideal opportunity for this exploration. Without a stopwatch on hand, the result would be predictable.
The 499P LMH boasts a carbon fibre monocoque and relies on the Ferrari Tipo F163 engine—a 3-litre 120° twin-turbo V6 paired with a 272 HP electric motor, totaling 500 KW or 680 HP as per regulations. It employs a 7-speed Xtrac sequential mechanical gearbox. On the other hand, the SF-24 features a carbon fibre honeycomb composite chassis and is powered by the Ferrari 066/12 1.6-litre V6 turbo hybrid engine, coupled with the Ferrari 8-speed + RM longitudinal gearbox with electronically controlled semi-automatic sequential control. The SF-24 weighs 798 kg, while the 499P LMH has a minimum weight of 1,069 kg.
