Red fine
Ferrari’s Imola weekend began with a small disciplinary hiccup. The Maranello team was fined €5000 by the stewards for an oversight committed during the first free practice session.
Ferrari mechanics violated Technical Directive 003Q 2.g.ii by modifying the tyre pressure on Charles Leclerc’s car while it was stationary in the pits, without following the prescribed procedure.
The Technical Directive requires that before making changes to the tyres, such as reducing pressure, the tyre temperature must first be obtained. Ferrari admitted that these procedures were not followed, which constitutes a violation of Article 30.5 a) of the Sporting Regulations.
Since the violation occurred during a free practice session, however, the stewards ‘limited’ themselves to imposing a €5000 fine on the Scuderia, in line with similar tyre-related infringements in the past.
