Home » Ferrari denies false claim about Lewis Hamilton’s upcoming F1 debut

Ferrari denies false claim about Lewis Hamilton’s upcoming F1 debut. Ferrari have now denied one incorrect claim about Lewis Hamilton’s upcoming debut.

Lewis Hamilton’s first test with Ferrari is shaping up to be the centerpiece of the F1 off-season, capturing the spotlight in a way few events can. Since the stunning announcement last February, the world of motorsport has been eagerly awaiting this historic moment.

As the dust settles on the 2024 F1 season, significant changes have already unfolded. Red Bull confirmed Sergio Perez’s departure, with Liam Lawson stepping into the main team, while Isack Hadjar secured the final Racing Bulls seat. In just a few weeks, all ten teams and twenty drivers will converge in London for the unveiling of the F175. Yet, despite the flurry of activity, it’s Hamilton’s inaugural run in Ferrari red that promises to dominate headlines.

This union between F1’s most decorated driver and its most legendary team is nothing short of a commercial goldmine for Liberty Media, the sport’s rights holder. The pairing not only stirs excitement among fans but also reinvigorates one of the sport’s most iconic narratives.

While Lewis Hamilton won’t get extensive track time with the 2025 Ferrari until the pre-season tests in Bahrain in late February, he can still rack up crucial mileage beforehand. F1 regulations permit teams to privately test cars that are at least two years old, allowing Hamilton to familiarize himself with Ferrari’s operations, procedures, and controls using the 2022 or 2023 model.

Confusion over Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari debut timeline
Early reports suggested Lewis Hamilton’s first Ferrari outing was scheduled for January 21, or January 22 as a contingency for poor weather. However, speaking on *The Race F1 Podcast*, journalist Jonathan Noble clarified that these claims were inaccurate.

Ferrari has since dismissed the rumored timeline but remains tight-lipped about specifics. Team Principal Fred Vasseur has indicated that Lewis Hamilton’s debut won’t be accompanied by the same fanfare that greeted Michael Schumacher’s arrival years ago, as the team aims to keep the focus on preparation and performance.

Instead of setting a fixed date, Ferrari has opted for a flexible “window” during which Lewis Hamilton could take to the Fiorano circuit. This means his first run in a Ferrari could occur as early as this weekend, adding an air of anticipation to the proceedings.

Additionally, Lewis Hamilton is expected to participate in a Pirelli tyre test in Barcelona. Maximizing his winter track time is crucial for building his confidence with the car and processes, giving him the best chance to hit the ground running and challenge Charles Leclerc from the start of the 2025 Formula 1 season.

Journalist Jonathan Noble explained that while dates such as January 21 and 22 had been circulating, he had been informed these were not accurate. He noted that Ferrari had established a testing window likely beginning around the weekend of January 19.

Noble suggested that Ferrari’s plan involves Lewis Hamilton arriving in Maranello in the latter half of January, with possible dates being January 17, 18, or 19. A Fiorano test could take place anytime between January 18 and 22, depending on weather conditions. The motorsport journalist emphasized that snow or unfavorable weather would delay the run, as Ferrari would need clear conditions. The team reportedly intends to give Hamilton two days at Fiorano to familiarize himself with the car, team operations, and controls.

The Transformation Nico Rosberg Predicts for Lewis Hamilton Following His Move to Ferrari
Nico Rosberg’s retirement at the end of the 2016 season left the Formula 1 world in shock, especially as he walked away from the sport as a reigning champion. According to Bradley Lord, communications chief at Mercedes’ Brackley headquarters, Hamilton’s exit from the team mirrors Rosberg’s unexpected decision.

Given the circumstances surrounding his departure, it seemed almost inevitable that Hamilton would face difficulties in the following season. His decision to leave Mercedes before the start of the year undoubtedly affected his performance, culminating in his first-ever finish outside the top six in the world championship standings.

However, this season of struggle may soon be overshadowed by a fresh chapter in Hamilton’s career. If he manages to land a podium finish or even secure victory in his first race with Ferrari in Australia, all talk of his dip in form could quickly fade from memory. Rosberg believes that this change of teams will ignite a renewed sense of “passion” in Hamilton, something that he believes will return to full force following this invigorating shift to Ferrari.
