Sergio Perez’s Formula 1 career appears to have reached its conclusion following the announcement of his departure from Red Bull Racing. This four-year partnership allowed the Mexican driver to achieve multiple victories and podium finishes. While there are no direct indications about his next steps, strong rumors suggest Sergio Perez could join Ferrari’s efforts in the World Endurance Championship (WEC).
Sergio Perez’s primary goal remains a return to F1, potentially in 2026 with the new Cadillac team. This opportunity could be significant, as the team will require an experienced driver to quickly establish itself in the sport.
In the meantime, Sergio Perez is determined not to leave motorsport, even temporarily. With no options left in F1 for 2025, he will be absent from the grid but not from racing. According to the Spanish site MARCA, Sergio Perez is in negotiations with a prominent WEC team.
The arrangement would not be a full-time commitment for all races but rather a wildcard entry for four or five events, including the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans in June 2025. Talks are reportedly ongoing with Ferrari, which could see the Mexican behind the wheel of the 499P, likely with the AF Corse team and their #83 car. If confirmed, Sergio Perez would once again wear the Prancing Horse emblem on his suit, following his stints with Sauber, Racing Point, and Red Bull. Notably, before those teams, the Mexican driver was part of the Ferrari Academy.
A Million-Dollar Settlement
Following his early exit from Red Bull, Sergio Perez is set to receive part of the compensation outlined in his contract. He is expected to earn $14 million, instead of the rumored $20 million agreed upon during his renewal in June 2024.
