Ferrari disappointing in Baku, Bobbi: “A mediocre car, something is missing to win” and he explains why
The 2025 Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku delivered another bitter chapter for Scuderia Ferrari, which once again failed to capitalize on the weekend’s potential at the high-speed Baku City Circuit. Neither Charles Leclerc nor Lewis Hamilton managed to get close to the fight for the podium, confirming a negative trend that has been dragging the Italian team down for several races now.
Matteo Bobbi’s harsh analysis of Ferrari’s current situation
Summing up the current state of the Scuderia was Matteo Bobbi, who spoke on Sky Sport Italia with a blunt analysis: “I repeat what I said during the commentary, Ferrari shows no highs or lows. It is a mediocre car. It doesn’t have standout strengths in hot conditions, in fact it performs worse in the cold, and it doesn’t even shine in qualifying compared to the race.”
Ferrari seen as a mid-level car: Bobbi’s words after Baku
Matteo Bobbi then added: “Overall it is a mid-level car, always the third or fourth force behind McLaren, Red Bull, and often even Mercedes. It was second only because it has strong drivers, but something is definitely missing for it to win.”
His comments reflect the reality of a Ferrari that, after the early-season hopes, has progressively slipped behind its direct rivals. The SF-25 has not yet shown the qualities needed to consistently fight for victory, leaving the team stuck in a sort of middle ground: too strong for the backmarkers, but not competitive enough to seriously challenge the leading teams.
McLaren leads, Ferrari struggles to keep up
McLaren continues to be the absolute benchmark of the season, while Red Bull and Mercedes are still able to maximize their upgrades and turn them into results. Ferrari, on the other hand, struggles to keep pace with development and often finds itself relying almost entirely on the talent of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton to score valuable points.
Baku confirms Ferrari’s current status
The outcome of the Baku weekend, without any flashes of brilliance or dramatic collapses, confirmed the status of a team still waiting to take a decisive step forward. Until that happens, Ferrari remains unable to reclaim a leading role in Formula 1.
