Ferrari not only says goodbye: a top engineer joins from a rival team
The announcement had promised change, and change indeed came. In the summer of 2025, Fréd Vasseur launched a major internal restructuring at Ferrari, describing it as a complete overhaul of every department within the team. This began with the departure of then-Technical Director Enrico Cardile and continued with the recruitment of engineers aimed at shaping a new Ferrari, with an organizational structure different from the one Fred Vasseur had inherited from the previous management. It has been a long period of turnover, highlighted by the arrival of Loic Serra as the new Technical Director, followed in the months thereafter by other key figures to strengthen crucial areas of the team. As of late 2025, this process does not appear to be finished—not due to a lack of available talent, but rather to carefully seeking the right balance ahead of the 2026 season and fine-tuning a team aimed at returning to the top of the grid. In recent weeks, Maranello has been a hub of activity, fueled both by rumors regarding team principal Fred Vasseur’s future (put to rest with his contract renewal) and by a series of departures and new appointments.
Significant turnover
Among the most recent departures not directly linked to track performance is Enrico Racca, the former head of Ferrari’s supply chain. But changes went further: about a month ago, sources close to Ferrari reported—and we confirmed—that there had been a reshuffle in the technical departments, including the appointment of Spanish engineer Carlos Galbally Herrero as the new Head of Tire Performance. Galbally Herrero brings a wealth of experience in tire management and simulation areas, returning to a role similar to the one he held during Mattia Binotto’s tenure.
Ferrari’s return from the summer break was also far from calm. Upon reopening, the team lost two aerodynamic engineers: one accepted an offer from Mattia Binotto and moved to Sauber, set to become Audi in 2026, while the second was persuaded by Simone Resta to join Mercedes.
Not just departures
However, following this turbulent return from the summer break, Ferrari leadership and team principal Frédéric Vasseur did not remain idle. On the contrary, they returned to the market to replace the talent lost and to recruit engineers to strengthen targeted areas of the team. Among these new hires is Guyllaume Dezoteux, an experienced tire management engineer, who joined from the Visa Cash App Racing Bulls. This move, reported by our sources close to the Scuderia and confirmed by Paolo Ciccarone on “RMC Motori,” reflects Ferrari’s focus on tire performance—an area that has seen significant work in recent weeks in Maranello. This step, following similar appointments of other key engineers in the recent past, highlights the strength of the Faenza team’s work and technical expertise.
