Ahead of the 2022 Formula 1 season, Scuderia Ferrari will be able to take advantage of a new simulator, as the Maranello team will send the current one into retirement (it is no longer entirely in step with the current times). Givern the fact that on track testing is not allowed, the work on the simulator has become of vital importance in order to develop the car, work on all parameters, such as set-up, tire understanding and to prepare for each race. The importance of the correlation of data between the virtual component and the real track has grown dramatically in recent years, with teams looking for maximum precision in simulation.
Scuderia Ferrari Team Principal Mattia Binotto talked about the new Maranello simulator, which will come into operation within two or three months:
“The new simulator has been assembled and we are commissioning it” – said the Maranello team principal – “It will still take two or three months, the intention is to use it full time next season. There are still activities to be done in terms of correlation, we think that having an effective simulator helps a lot to understand the problems like those we had with tire degradation in France. Our current simulator is not the best in its class, the new one will be extremely useful, we needed a step forward.” – Scuderia Ferrari Team Principal Mattia Binotto concluded.
