“An SF-23 car full of «new things» that you don’t notice at first sight”, this is how Italian journalist and Formula 1 expert Giorgio Terruzzi describes the new challenger presented by Ferrari last Tuesday morning. And in fact there are several things that the journalist highlighted in his analysis for the Italian daily newspaper Il Corriere della Sera. Let’s take a look at some of his most important statements.
Giorgio Terruzzi’s comments on 2023 Ferrari F1 car:
“The optimism comes from the technicians. They have revised the most sensitive parts of the 2022 Ferrari car to be able to present an SF-23 full of “new things” that you don’t notice at first glance”, begins Giorgio Terruzzi in his article for Il Corriere della Sera.
“The drivers can’t wait to hit the track, with the clear intention on settling old accounts with the enemy and settling internal priorities, while Fred Vasseur, the first in the hierarchical order, the latest arrival in Maranello, tries to understand and then do and say according to his own style “, writes the journalist referring to the three men who, more than anyone else, will play a crucial role in the Italian team’s world championship ambitions.
The SF-23 is aesthetically perfect, no one can deny that. But, of course, since we are talking about motorsport racing and not a beauty contest, performance will be the most important. In this sense, the next two months will be decisive, starting with the pre-season testing session at the Bahrain International Circuit, but “those who worked on the project issue reassuring feelings, accompanied by a sense of content in terms of technical details”, Giorgio Terruzzi added.

From a technical point of view, the focus “concerns the engine, which is more powerful and solid; it affect the entire aerodynamic sector, starting with a new front suspension. The goal was to increase speed, improving the wheelbase. This was achieved, it seems, by shortening the “nose” which it now connects to the third profile of the front wing, leaving the fourth free”, explains the journalist.
He then continues: “The floor has changed, the power steering box has been lowered. Enrico Cardile, technical director of Ferrari is aware that the “anti-bouncing” rules (the Technical Directive 39/22, ed.) lead to lap times half a second slower. But Ferrari is confident it has been able to recover the gap and cancel the lost lap time abundantly. In short, everything that was already good has been improved” – Il Corriere della Sera writes.
“The rest – concludes Giorgio Terruzzi – will depend on the tools in the hands of Max Verstappen, Sergio Perez, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell. All of those who are intent on making life difficult for the Maranello team once again.” – the Italian journalist pointed out.
