F1 – It’s a matter of driving style at Ferrari: Charles Leclerc silences doubts about Lewis Hamilton and Carlos Sainz. The performances of the seven-time world champion are still far from those of #16. The Briton is searching for the right setup to find confidence in the SF-25, while in the paddock the discussion returns to the previous Maranello pairing: did Carlos Sainz’s driving style suit Charles Leclerc’s better?
Ferrari’s 2025 campaign carries many doubts and few certainties. The results are improving, as shown by Charles Leclerc’s podium at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. A third place, still behind McLaren and Red Bull, however, cannot be enough. In Miami, another challenging weekend is expected, but then the European season begins: between Imola, Monaco, and Barcelona, something will have to change.
Updates, of course, but they also need to unlock Lewis Hamilton. The seven-time world champion is struggling greatly, fueling more than a few doubts among fans and insiders. Some, in light of recent rumors about different directions being taken within the garage, are wondering whether Carlos Sainz adapted better to working with the Monegasque. A theory firmly denied by #16.
No need for Carlos Sainz: Ferrari already has a winning pairing
The common idea is that, to excel, a team needs drivers who seek and demand the same characteristics from the car. This way, engineers can focus on a single technical direction without having to develop two different “ideas” for the same car. A theory dismantled by Charles Leclerc, who speaks of a wide range of possible driving styles.
“First of all, I often hear that the drivers’ driving style is something extremely important within a team,” the Monegasque explained to journalists present in Jeddah, as reported by the Italian media. “I believe there is definitely a lot of freedom in the car’s setup to adapt it to a specific driver’s style. For this reason, it doesn’t change much.” – he pointed out
“As I have said in the past, it can be helpful to have similarities, because it allows you to push in the same direction, needing the same things from the car. As I have reiterated, with Lewis I was surprised by our very similar way of approaching corner entries. I don’t want to make comparisons with other drivers, but yes, when Lewis arrived, I didn’t expect it.” – the Ferrari driver concluded.
