Charles Leclerc has never hidden his deep connection with motorsport and with Ferrari, and he has not ruled out the possibility of competing in the World Endurance Championship one day. It is a bond that goes beyond Formula 1 and looks with genuine interest toward the world of endurance racing. During the FIA prize-giving ceremony, the Monegasque driver openly expressed a desire that immediately ignited enthusiasm among fans.
When talking about motorsport, the 24 Hours of Le Mans represents an absolute symbol. It is a historic and iconic race that embodies the very essence of endurance racing and holds a special place in the hearts of motorsport enthusiasts around the world.
In recent years, this appeal has grown even stronger thanks to Ferrari’s triumphant return to the top. The Maranello-based manufacturer has secured three consecutive victories at Le Mans and claimed the WEC world title, imposing itself with the Ferrari 499P. This level of dominance has not gone unnoticed, even by Charles Leclerc.
Charles Leclerc considers WEC to find the victory Ferrari no longer offers him in F1
Present at the end-of-season awards ceremony, Charles Leclerc spoke about his future and his dreams within motorsport. Despite a difficult Formula 1 season, the Monegasque driver showed remarkable clarity and honesty when addressing his ambitions.
“I have to find a way to combine Formula 1 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans,” Charles Leclerc stated, making it clear that the idea is far from unrealistic and is something he is seriously considering.
His follow-up immediately clarified his competitive mindset. “Me at Le Mans? Yes, but I want to win,” he added, underlining once again that victory always remains the primary objective. This is especially significant given that Ferrari is currently dominating in the WEC, while in Formula 1 the team continues to face major difficulties.
The 2025 season was not an easy one for Ferrari in Formula 1. Charles Leclerc, however, managed to limit the damage, securing seven podium finishes and keeping the Scuderia’s name at a high level. Even so, it remains a modest return for a driver whose only real goal is the world championship title.
At the same time, Ferrari’s success in the WEC provides a striking contrast. The team led by Antonello Coletta has built a winning project, capable of dominating at Le Mans and throughout the endurance championship with consistency and authority.
Charles Leclerc explained that a potential participation in the 24 Hours of Le Mans would not be merely a romantic dream. For him, it would also represent an opportunity for technical and mental growth. “All of this means preparation,” the Monegasque explained. “In the WEC the level is really very high.”
This was a clear reference to the quality of the drivers, the teams, and the complexity of a race that demands concentration, management skills, and teamwork over many hours. Combining Formula 1 and Le Mans is not easy, but it is not impossible either. Motorsport history offers illustrious examples, and Ferrari today has a solid and winning endurance project.
If Charles Leclerc can align his schedule successfully and the 499P continues to perform at the elite level seen over the past three years, this ambitious vision could soon turn into reality. In that scenario, the entire motorsport world would witness something truly historic and unforgettable.
