Ferrari celebrations erupted in Barcelona after the Scuderia finally ended a long Formula 1 victory drought that had stretched back to the 2024 Mexican Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton delivered a memorable performance to win the Spanish Grand Prix, securing his first victory as a Ferrari driver and marking a significant milestone in the partnership between the seven-time world champion and the Maranello team.
The success was welcomed throughout Ferrari, including by chairman John Elkann, who took the opportunity to congratulate Lewis Hamilton while also recognising the efforts made by the entire organisation. Elkann’s message extended beyond Formula 1, acknowledging the commitment shown by Ferrari personnel during a challenging edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where the team fought hard despite falling short of a fourth consecutive victory.
John Elkann’s message to Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari
“Well done Lewis on your first great victory with Ferrari: an emotional moment and a very important result that belongs to the entire team and to all of our fans. I want to thank everyone for the determination, sacrifice and collective work that is carried out every day with passion and the Ferrari spirit, both at the track and in Maranello. A thank you also goes to the Ferrari team that faced a very difficult 24 Hours of Le Mans with pride, unity and great professionalism, fighting until the very end. Forza Ferrari”
John Elkann’s comments reflect the importance of the Barcelona victory for Ferrari. Beyond the points scored and the championship implications, Lewis Hamilton’s breakthrough success represents the reward for months of development work, dedication and belief throughout the entire organisation.
After a difficult period in Formula 1, Ferrari can finally celebrate a return to the top step of the podium, while Lewis Hamilton’s first triumph in red has given both the team and its supporters renewed optimism for the remainder of the 2026 season.
