Ferrari celebrates WEC glory in 2025 after 53 years: a record-breaking and unforgettable season. Ferrari becomes the 2025 WEC world champion.

Ferrari 499P Le Mans

Ferrari has claimed both the Constructors’ and Drivers’ world titles in the 2025 World Endurance Championship, completing a journey that began in 2022 and culminating in an extraordinary and unforgettable season.

A dream 53 years in the making

It took 53 long years, but Ferrari has finally been crowned World Champion for both manufacturers and drivers in the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship. What once seemed like a dream has now become reality. After decades of waiting and disappointment, Ferrari fans can finally celebrate again, as Maranello returns to the top of the endurance racing world — a success that recalls the legendary 312PB’s triumph in the 1972 World Sportscar Championship.

Bringing the manufacturers’ title back to Maranello required a bold project, supported by a team that demonstrated cohesion, vision, and determination throughout the years. United by one great goal — to dominate endurance racing — the Scuderia built a foundation that has now delivered an era-defining result.

Ferrari achieved three consecutive victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with three different cars, before completely dominating the 2025 season. This campaign represented the culmination of everything that had been built in 2023 and 2024 — a perfect blend of technical refinement, operational precision, and team unity.

The evolution of the Ferrari 499P

In its first two years, the Ferrari 499P brought home two historic victories at Le Mans, though consistency across an entire season was still lacking. In 2023, the project was still in its infancy compared to the far more experienced Toyota squad. In 2024, Ferrari suffered from missed opportunities in the early rounds — from strategic errors such as the costly one at Imola to unfortunate incidents and debatable race control decisions at Spa-Francorchamps.

Yet, those two seasons laid the groundwork for the triumph of 2025. This year, the team managed to put everything together — reliability, flawless execution, and a cohesive technical and sporting department. The result was pure dominance: four victories in the opening four races and an almost perfect points haul.

Coletta and Cannizzo praise the team

Following the title wins, Antonello Coletta and Ferdinando Cannizzo expressed their pride and gratitude to the entire Ferrari team.

Antonello Coletta, Global Head of Endurance and Corse Clienti, stated: “In Bahrain we concluded a memorable year with a historic result. The 499P project, with which we returned to the top class of endurance racing, has achieved exceptional results — three Le Mans victories, the World Constructors’ title, and the Drivers’ crown, with all three crews at the top of the standings.”

He added: “I’m proud to lead this team and I thank every single member for their contribution. Without their hard work, passion, and dedication, none of this would have been possible. Seeing all the drivers and the team celebrate together at the end of the race was yet another demonstration of how united this group is. I’d also like to dedicate this success to Andrea De Adamich, who passed away recently — I’m sure he would have celebrated this extraordinary achievement with us.”

Ferdinando Cannizzo, Head of Endurance Race Cars, commented: “We have fulfilled our dream of becoming world champions, working tirelessly and with humility to reach this point. After our 2023 Le Mans victory, we knew we were on the right path, and the following two years in France confirmed that our direction was the right one.”

“We built this world title especially during last winter, working non-stop to fully exploit the potential of this car. I want to thank the entire Ferrari – AF Corse team and everyone both at the track and in Maranello’s remote garage, who have given us all this immense joy.”

The final battle in Bahrain

Ferrari entered the final round in Bahrain with a comfortable championship lead, though that margin had slightly decreased after difficult races in São Paulo and Fuji, where the team suffered two costly retirements. The objective for Bahrain was clear — avoid strategic mistakes, stay out of trouble, and bring the cars home to seal both world titles.

As anticipated, Porsche could only have reopened the championship with a one-two finish, but Toyota played a decisive role by setting a blistering pace that allowed it to dominate the race with its own one-two, effectively handing Ferrari the world championship.

Race pace and zero mistakes: the key to victory

Throughout the eight-hour race, Ferrari managed the pace perfectly, combining consistency with precision. The Scuderia’s rhythm was strong in the opening hours, under intense heat and sunshine that influenced tyre strategies for all teams. The three 499P cars maintained a competitive pace, staying close to the leading Toyota and making the most of their Michelin tyres, which performed particularly well during the later stages of each stint.

This strategic consistency allowed Ferrari to climb steadily through the order and consolidate its advantage overnight, as tyre wear became less of a factor. The late-race position swap between cars No. 51 and No. 50 symbolized the clarity of thought and team spirit that defined Ferrari’s entire season — reinforcing its total dominance in both the Constructors’ and Drivers’ standings, with all three top positions occupied by factory Ferrari crews. A complete triumph.

A success beyond the track

The 2025 campaign will forever be remembered as one of the most iconic in Ferrari’s modern history. Team president John Elkann highlighted this achievement, stating: “This result fills us with pride and represents the culmination of a dream — the peak of a journey that began in 2022 when we decided to return to the top class of endurance racing.”

“This journey, which saw us win three consecutive Le Mans races, now allows us to celebrate not just two world titles but also the strength of a team that has faced every challenge of endurance racing with humility, determination, and a constant desire to improve.”

Towards 2026: continuity and confidence in the project

Ferrari’s focus is already shifting to 2026. The team has announced it will enter the new season without introducing any new development jokers — a bold decision that reflects its strong belief in the current 499P project.

Despite its success, the 499P still appears to have untapped potential. The only major upgrade introduced so far dates back to the 2024 6 Hours of São Paulo, when Ferrari updated the brake ducts. This contrasts sharply with rivals such as Toyota, which has implemented a major aerodynamic evolution of its GR010, and BMW, which has introduced front-end updates to its Hypercar.

The 2026 season will also see the debut of the new Genesis LMDh, adding further intrigue to the grid. In this context, Ferrari’s strategy of delaying upgrades stands out as both a sign of strength and of pragmatic intelligence — choosing to study the competition, evaluate their paths, and only introduce changes when truly necessary, after thorough testing and validation. It’s a management approach defined by logic and discipline — two qualities that, in Ferrari’s long history, have not always been easy to maintain.
