Ferrari, Racing Bulls and Cadillac all broke Formula 1’s curfew in Baku, but none of the three teams will receive a penalty. All still had permitted exceptions available for the relevant restricted period, allowing their mechanics to continue working beyond the normal hours ahead of the next day of Azerbaijan Grand Prix action.
Ferrari breaks Baku curfew to continue work on the SF-26
Ferrari team principal Frédéric Vasseur had already indicated after Thursday’s free practice running in Baku that there would be plenty of work to do. That proved to be the case, with the Maranello team continuing to work on the SF-26 beyond the permitted hours.
Ferrari therefore used one of its available curfew exceptions in order to carry out the additional work. For the Scuderia, this was the second exception used this season from the four available for the specific restricted period concerned.
No penalties for Ferrari, Racing Bulls or Cadillac
Cadillac and Racing Bulls also broke the curfew in Baku. Both teams used their third exception of the season, meaning they too remained within the allowance available under the regulations.
As a result, none of the three teams will face a penalty for the additional work carried out on Thursday evening. The extra garage time was used to prepare the cars as effectively as possible for Friday’s programme, which includes final practice and qualifying on the unusual Thursday-to-Saturday 2026 Azerbaijan Grand Prix schedule.
