For the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, we were not expecting any major updates from Scuderia Ferrari as there will only be one practice session on Friday before diving into the hectic new weekend format with a sprint race. There wouldn’t have been enough time to properly evaluate any updates, but evidently, the men from Maranello have assessed that even the single pylon solution that was brought to Jeddah and Australia did not meet expectations.
On the fast city circuit of Baku, we will thus see the low-downforce rear wing that was used in the first race of the 2023 Formula One season, and no significant updates to the sidepods. However, Ferrari’s technicians are confident that they have addressed some of the issues that were unbalancing the SF-23 in the early races, by working only on the setup of the sigle-seater.
Instead, the technicians have focused on another area of the rear of the SF-23 car, specifically the diffuser exit profiles and the beam wing, in order to maximize the efficiency of the DRS at the Baku City circuit, taking inspiration from rivals Red Bull.
