Ferrari and McLaren have been handed suspended fines after Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris arrived slightly late to Thursday’s FIA press conference ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix.
The stewards’ decision
The FIA stewards reviewed the matter after both drivers were late for the official media session held before the start of the Monaco Grand Prix weekend.
As a result, Ferrari and McLaren were each issued a €5,000 fine. However, the penalty has been suspended rather than enforced immediately. This means that neither team will have to pay the fine at this stage.
Warning issued to both teams
The suspended penalty will remain in place throughout the 2026 season.
If Ferrari or McLaren are found to be late again for an FIA event during the remainder of the year, the €5,000 fine will automatically become payable. The decision serves as a formal warning from the governing body, which expects teams and drivers to comply with all official FIA schedules and media commitments during Grand Prix weekends.
For now, both Ferrari and McLaren avoid any immediate financial penalty, but any future infringement during the 2026 season could trigger the suspended sanction.
