While the assembly process of the 2023 single-seaters is proceeding in the technical departments, many teams have planned some test days to allow the drivers to regain confidence with driving and working on the track.
These tests are also useful for the teams themselves to run-in work systems and allow a first test for the teams that have included new professional figures in the organization chart. McLaren and Aston Martin will hit to the track at Jerez taking advantage of the Pirelli tyre testing session, while Scuderia Ferrari will be lapping at Fiorano for a ‘three-day’ testing session which will see all the Scuderia’s drivers on track.
The two main drivers, Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc, will have a full day at their disposal to recover the feeling with a Formula 1 car after the long winter break, confirming the program already seen (also at the Fiorano circuit) last year.
The test will take place with an SF-21 car, that as required by the regulation (under the heading ‘previous-car’) is the most recent that can be used for this type of test in which specific Pirelli tires are used for private tests.
The Fiorano testing session also includes a day in which the two Scuderia Ferrari reserve-drivers will share the SF-21. Antonio Giovinazzi and Robert Shwartzman will each have half a day at their disposal, an important opportunity to get back to familiarizing themselves with Formula 1 considering the almost total lack of opportunities to get behind the wheel of 2023 single-seaters.

Antonio Giovinazzi and Robert Shwartzman will also alternate during the race weekends in the role of reserve-driver, a commitment that that will be shared (half a season) between the Italian and the Israeli racing driver, also on the basis of their respective commitments on track.
