Fernando Alonso was left furious at the end of the 2025 Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix, launching a scathing attack on both Ferrari and Lewis Hamilton after what he described as an unfair and dangerous situation on track. The Spaniard openly called for Hamilton’s disqualification following a controversial final phase of the race at Marina Bay.
The #44 Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton suffered a serious brake issue in the closing laps, forcing the seven-time world champion to slow dramatically and lift off the throttle several times. Despite the problem, Hamilton cut across several corners but still managed to finish ahead of Alonso’s Aston Martin, keeping hold of seventh place at the chequered flag.
The race ended in controversy and frustration. “I can’t believe it, I just can’t believe it!” Alonso shouted over team radio after crossing the line, narrowly beaten by Hamilton. “How can it be safe to drive without brakes? I should have finished seventh, not eighth. It’s fine if you’re alone on track, but you can’t drive like that when you’re fighting others. Yesterday they ignored the red flags, and today this happens… They do whatever they want, apparently.”
Alonso’s frustration was palpable. The Spanish driver also referred to an earlier incident during FP3, when Hamilton appeared to accelerate under red-flag conditions but escaped without penalty. “I don’t think you can drive without brakes,” he continued. “They tried to disqualify me once for missing a mirror, and now someone drives around without brakes and everything is fine.”
Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton remains under FIA investigation and could face a five-second time penalty for exceeding track limits during those closing laps while defending against Alonso. The stewards are expected to announce their decision soon.
