Here is the list of the 11 teams set to compete in the 2026 Formula 1 season. This year, the grid will feature 11 teams, with Cadillac joining the Circus alongside the 10 familiar teams. With changes to regulations and car designs, some teams have also made adjustments to their lineups. Here’s a detailed look at the teams that will race starting from Melbourne.
Ferrari
A name that needs no introduction is Scuderia Ferrari, the only team to have participated in every Formula 1 season since the championship began in 1950. Over the years, Ferrari has become increasingly iconic and successful, almost synonymous with the sport itself.
The Maranello team has won 15 Drivers’ Championships and 16 Constructors’ Championships, with the last titles in 2007 and 2008 respectively. Recent seasons have been challenging, but Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton are ready to give their all in 2026, with Fred Vasseur still at the helm.
McLaren
McLaren, the reigning champion, will return to the track for its 61st season. With the new world champion Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, they will aim to defend their crown. Andrea Stella remains Team Principal, while CEO Zak Brown continues to have a strong presence at the pit wall.
Founded by Bruce McLaren, the papaya-colored team debuted in 1966 and has since collected 203 wins, 13 Drivers’ titles, and 10 Constructors’ titles, making it one of F1’s most iconic teams.
Mercedes
Mercedes, another team with a history of success, will keep the same lineup as in 2025: George Russell and young Kimi Antonelli will aim to bring more wins and podiums to Brackley in 2026. Toto Wolff, Team Principal since 2013, will continue to lead the team through the regulatory changes.
Born from the acquisition of Brawn GP in 2010, the German team has achieved eight consecutive Constructors’ Championships (2014–2020) and seven consecutive Drivers’ titles (six for Lewis Hamilton, one for Nico Rosberg). Despite recent struggles, last year’s second place in the Constructors’ standings bodes well for a competitive 2026 season.
Red Bull
2026 marks Red Bull’s 22nd season in F1, and the team will introduce a new driver lineup. Max Verstappen will part ways with Yuki Tsunoda, replaced by Isack Hadjar. Laurent Mekies remains Team Principal. Red Bull continues to be a dominant force, with past successes including Sebastian Vettel’s four consecutive titles (2010–2013) and Max Verstappen’s four consecutive championships (2021–2024). Verstappen narrowly lost to Lando Norris in 2025 and will aim to reclaim glory in 2026.
Williams
Williams, a historic F1 team, led by James Vowles, boasts seven Drivers’ titles and nine Constructors’ Championships. After a strong 2025 season, finishing fifth in the championship with two podiums thanks to Carlos Sainz, the team will aim to return to its former glory with Sainz and Alex Albon leading the charge.
Racing Bulls
Racing Bulls will also adjust its lineup for 2026. With Isack Hadjar promoted to Red Bull, Liam Lawson will be joined by Arvid Lindblad as they attempt to bring the team back to the podium. Alan Permane remains Team Principal for the junior team.
The team originated from Red Bull’s acquisition of the former Minardi team in 2006 and has undergone several name changes: Toro Rosso, AlphaTauri, and RB before becoming Racing Bulls in 2025. The team has achieved two wins, courtesy of Sebastian Vettel and Pierre Gasly, along with several podiums—the latest thanks to Hadjar’s performance.
Aston Martin
Aston Martin hopes to progress in 2026 after finishing seventh in the Constructors’ standings in 2025. Since adopting the Aston Martin name in 2021, the team has had mixed results. The 2023 season started strong with multiple podiums from Fernando Alonso, but the following two years were difficult.
Alonso, alongside Lance Stroll, aims to bounce back in 2026, boosted by new key personnel joining the team.
Haas
Haas, one of F1’s newer teams, has competed for just 11 seasons. The team has raced in 214 Grands Prix, with its best finish being fourth—first achieved by Romain Grosjean and matched by Oliver Bearman in 2025 in Mexico. Bearman will again team up with Esteban Ocon, under Team Principal Ayao Komatsu, aiming to climb the standings.
Audi
The former Kick Sauber team will officially become Audi in 2026. The lineup remains unchanged: Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto will race together for a second consecutive season. After a strong 2025, highlighted by Hulkenberg’s Silverstone podium, and with support from TP Jonathan Wheatley, Audi aims for an even better 2026.
Alpine
Previously Renault, Alpine faced a challenging 2025, finishing low in the standings with a significant points gap. Under its current name, the team has achieved one victory and six podiums, two courtesy of Pierre Gasly. Gasly will partner Franco Colpinto as Alpine enters a new era, using Mercedes engines for the first time.
Cadillac
The newest addition to the 2026 F1 grid is Cadillac, the first new team since Haas debuted in 2016. The 11th team will feature familiar faces, Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas, returning after a year off. Initially, the team will run Ferrari engines while General Motors and TWG Motorsports build a PU production facility to eventually make the American team independent.
They will face a steep learning curve to match the pace of the more experienced teams during a season full of changes. The big question remains: can Cadillac keep up?
