The case involving Toto Wolff, which unfolded yesterday following the statement released by the FIA regarding the investigation into Mercedes’ team principal and F1 Academy Managing Director Susie Wolff, is enriched with additional elements. Just moments ago, several teams simultaneously released a brief statement, denying having informed the FIA about a possible conflict of interest.
Teams deny informing the FIA about the Toto Wolff incident
“We can confirm that we have not filed any complaint with the FIA regarding the alleged transmission of confidential information between an F1 Team Principal and a member of the FOM staff,” Ferrari announced in a brief statement.
“We are pleased and proud to support the F1 Academy and its managing director through our commitment to sponsor a competitor with our liveries starting from the next season.”
Simultaneously, Williams, Aston Martin, Haas, Red Bull, McLaren, Alpine, and AlphaTauri published the same statement on their respective social media profiles. After an initial delay, Sauber also joined the statements of the other teams.
The teams’ intention is clear: to refute what was reported by Business F1 Magazine a few days ago. According to the magazine co-founded by Bernie Ecclestone, some team principals would have accused the Austrian of a conflict of interest, obtaining confidential information for their own advantage.

These team principals, suspicious of a comment by Toto Wolff in the last F1 Commission meeting in Abu Dhabi, based on confidential information of which only Wolff was aware, would have promptly alerted Ben Sulayem.
“The FIA is aware of media speculation surrounding the alleged transmission of confidential information to an F1 Team Principal by a member of the FOM staff. The FIA Compliance Department is reviewing the matter.”
