Apple has announced a partnership with Formula 1 to bring races to the platform. The motorsports addition is going to be available for Apple TV subscribers in the US, which is big news for fans of the sport. Fans will be able to watch extensive coverage of Sprint Events as well as Grand Prix and even qualifying sessions.

Online Platforms are Dominating the Sports World
As time goes on, more and more platforms are embracing live sports. Amazon Prime, for example, allows people to watch the NBA, NFL and more live, which helps to eliminate the need for a full television subscription.
Netflix has also shown boxing events live in the past, including Taylor vs. Serrano 3. Even though more sports matches are being live-streamed on platforms over traditional television channels, it’s really part of a much wider trend. People are moving away from traditional experiences and instead gravitating to more accessible alternatives.
For example, people are now streaming music more through YouTube and Spotify, rather than buying records, and some experiences are becoming entirely digital. Casino bingo is a prime example here. Traditionally, people went to bingo halls, but now experiences can be held online and streamed from the comfort of home. With themed rooms available and the option to take part in different experiences, the shift we are seeing is not only making entertainment more accessible but also more affordable.
In the case of F1, it’s much easier to sign up with an Apple TV subscription that you can cancel at any time, rather than being locked into an 18-month television package. The move from F1 should not only mean that the sport can be watched by more people, but it should also help to ensure that the sport continues to draw in a worldwide audience.

The Season is Set to Start in March
The F1 2026 season is slated to start next March, with Apple choosing to offer a range of free races. Practice events are also going to be shown on the Apple TV app, but not on the Apple TV+ platform. Viewers also have the option of being able to watch all of the action in either English or Spanish.
Beyond racing, F1 is going to become a bigger part of the Apple ecosystem. This will include Apple Music, Apple Maps, and Apple Fitness Plus. The Apple Sports app is going to be rolling out live updates, and it is also going to show live activities and a designated widget. You can access F1 at no extra cost, with team radios, live cameras, and more becoming part of the core offerings. If you have an Apple TV subscription, then you will get automatic access, but if you don’t, you can take it out for just $13 a month. You can also take out a bundle with a Peacock package or with the Comcast StreamSaver, which is great for F1 fans.
