After an exciting start to the 2022 Formula One season for Scuderia Ferrari, the team led by Christian Horner managed, with a lot of work, to recover the performance gap to the Maranello team that had been created in the first races. In fact, Team Principal Mattia Binotto was a little surprised by Red Bull’s growth which currently appears to be a few tenths of a lap faster than the F1-75. Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz complained of a lack of top speed on the straight and great difficulties in handling the softer tires, which made the car uncompetitive.
Competitiveness that was instead maintained with the harder compound tires, as the lower grip was offset by excellent traction when exiting the corners. An aspect that bodes well for the Baku, Monte Carlo and Montreal, where great traction is needed as they are on the STOP and GO circuits.
Great traction which is made possible by a rear suspension formed by an advanced upper triangle and a lower triangle set back from the hub center and by a tie rod pattern designed to gain camber by maximizing the support of the tire when cornering.
With the new floor update that Ferrari will bring to Spain, in addition to enhancing the already excellent chassis, efforts will also be made to increase aerodynamic efficiency to return to the levels of the beginning of the 2022 Formula 1 season.
