F1 LIVE – Russell on pole, Verstappen ready to reignite the title fight at Marina Bay
The stage is set for the eighteenth round of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship. Follow the live coverage of the Singapore Grand Prix, which gets underway at 14:00 local time. Live race updates from the spectacular night race at Marina Bay will begin below starting from 13:40.
Weather forecast: what conditions can we expect for the Singapore GP start?
When the lights go out at Marina Bay, the temperature is expected to hover around 29°C. Weather forecasts suggest minimal chances of rain during the race itself, although a few showers may arrive overnight, helping to “wash” the track ahead of the start of Sunday’s Grand Prix. That could make grip levels unpredictable in the opening laps.
Singapore GP 2025: the starting grid
Leading the grid for the 2025 Singapore Grand Prix will be George Russell. The British driver secured pole position after an outstanding Q3 performance, delivering two flawless laps that left even a determined Max Verstappen with no response. The reigning world champion, however, will not start far behind. Lining up second on the grid, the Dutchman is already planning his attack into Turn 1, determined to add another victory to his wins in Monza and Baku and reignite the championship battle.
Verstappen’s hopes are further supported by signs that McLaren’s dominance has slightly faded since the early part of the season. While the Woking-based team appears to have the Constructors’ title under control, the Drivers’ Championship remains far from decided. Oscar Piastri will start from third place, giving him a strong position to challenge, while his teammate Lando Norris begins from fifth on the grid.
Ferrari’s struggles continue under the Singapore lights
It was another difficult qualifying session for Ferrari. The Maranello team will line up sixth and seventh after a weekend that started with promise but ended in disappointment. The red cars lacked the pace to challenge the front runners in the final phase of qualifying, and once again looked short on grip and consistency.
At Marina Bay, overtaking has always been a challenge, and for Ferrari to move forward, a perfectly executed race strategy will be essential. Both drivers will need a clean start and clever tire management if they hope to climb into podium contention under the demanding conditions of Singapore’s night race.
