The return from summer break coincides with one of the most important events on 2022 Formula 1 calendar: the Belgian Grand Prix at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. Directly from the Belgian paddock, the Italian website f1ingenerale.com has reported an indiscretion according to which Scuderia Ferrari will bring, on the occasion of the Formula 1 Monza Grand Prix in two weeks’ time, a very aggressive aerodynamic package, with the goal of making the F1-75 particularly effective on straights.
The Monza circuit
The National Autodrome of Monza is widely known throughout the world as “The Temple of Speed” as it is characterized by an extremely fast design, with an average speed of over 260 km / h in a qualifying lap. From a technical point of view, it translates into very low downforce aerodynamic configurations that have the aim of reducing drag. With the 2022 cars, the teams will be able to generate the necessary load thanks to the potential of the floor, being able to opt for unloaded rear wing configurations. The rumors gathered say that the Ferrari technical team is pushing very aggressively in this direction. In fact, a very extreme package is expected, which should allow Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz to reduce the deficit on the straights against the Red Bull RB18 cars. This will also be possible thanks to the new hybrid system, which Ferrari will most likely introduce, at least on the F1-75 car of Charles Leclerc, this weekend at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, resulting in grid penalties for the Monegasque driver.
However, the rumors collected also concern Red Bull. The Milton Keynes team, like Ferrari, is working on an equally extreme aerodynamic package with low downforce setup. Although the two teams are far apart in the world rankings, the performances on the track are often comparable and the fight is still open on all fronts, including the technical one.
