Formila 1 bosses have officially confirmed the venues which will host the six sprint events in the 2023 Formula 1 campaign.
Three sprints races took place during this year, in the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, the Austrian Grand Prix and the Brazilian Grand Prix, while for 2023 three extra events have been added.
The Red Bull Ring in Austria and Brazil’s Interlagos circuit will once again be locations which will host sprintsl races along with Baku in Azerbaijan, Austin’s Circuit of the Americas, Belgium’s Spa-Francorchamps and Qatar.
The Sprint Race weekends based on the short versions of races that take place on Saturdays evenings have received mixed feedback from fans and drivers: some of them admitted to being unhappy that it is linked to qualifying for Sunday’s main race.
A few drivers asked for the sprint races to be standalone events but the idea is to keep the format unchanged for the next season.

Yet, discussions are taking place regarding the possibility of making changes for the 2024 championship, as confirmed by former Ferrari boss and current Formula 1 president and CEO Stefano Domenicali:
“We have seen a hugely positive reaction to the Formula 1 Sprint events during the first two years of its running, and we can’t wait to bring even more action to fans with six events next year, including our first United States F1 Sprint in Austin. The introduction of the F1 Sprint has created a race weekend that includes three days of competitive racing action and brings more entertainment to fans of the sport as well as additional value for key stakeholders including teams, broadcasters, partners, and host venues.” – Stefano Domenicali explained.
