What’s not to love about one of Europe’s classic tracks? Only the truly great drivers conquer Spa, with Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher among those to master this magical circuit. Add in the wonderful setting of the Ardennes forest and it’s no surprise that it’s a fan favourite.
Located in Belgium’s picturesque Ardennes Forest, the Spa-Francorchamps circuit was born 99 years ago in 1921 when the triangle formed by the roads linking the villages of Francorchamps, Malmedy and Stavelot were used for a motorcycle race. Four-wheeled machines soon joined the scene and the Belgian Grand Prix was created, with its original fearsome 14km road circuit part of the inaugural Formula One world championship season in 1950.
Join us later in the afternoon for the latest updates and results from the Spa-Francorchamps Circuit, as the qualifying session for the 2021 Belgian Grand Prix is about to get underway, with Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc at the wheel of the SF21 ready to challenge for the best possible place on the grid ahead of tomorrow’s race at Spa.
