“Rest in peace, Roscoe”: the paddock united in support of Lewis Hamilton’s loss
The Formula 1 community has come together to support Lewis Hamilton after the heartbreaking news of the passing of his beloved bulldog, Roscoe. The Ferrari driver announced the loss on social media with a deeply emotional message, explaining that his four-legged friend fought bravely until the end and passed away on Sunday, September 28, “in my arms,” as he wrote.
In the days leading up to Roscoe’s passing, Lewis Hamilton had missed the Pirelli tests at Mugello because the dog had been rushed to hospital due to complications from pneumonia, a condition he had suffered from before. The seven-time world champion later revealed that Roscoe had fallen into a coma, but he continued to hope for a miraculous recovery.
Today, Hamilton shared the devastating update with his fans and the wider world through his social channels. Almost immediately, messages of condolence began pouring in from across the Formula 1 paddock, with both teams and drivers showing their support during this painful moment for the British star.
Several teams expressed their sadness and sent their condolences to Sir Lewis Hamilton. Mercedes, his long-time former team, wrote: “Our thoughts are with you, Lewis. Roscoe brought so much joy to everyone who met him, and he will always remain part of our family.”

Ferrari, Lewis Hamilton’s current team, also shared its message of support: “We are so sorry for your loss, Lewis. Roscoe was a wonderful dog, and he will never be forgotten.”
Other teams joined in as well, including Racing Bulls, McLaren—who affectionately described Roscoe as “the star of the paddock”—Stake, Red Bull, Alpine, and Williams. Even the FIA shared its condolences, posting: “We are deeply saddened to learn of Roscoe’s passing. Our thoughts are with you, Lewis.”
Among the drivers who reached out were George Russell, Hamilton’s former teammate at Mercedes, and Charles Leclerc, his current Ferrari teammate, both of whom left heartfelt messages of support.
Roscoe was a constant presence by Lewis Hamilton’s side throughout the paddock in recent years and had become a familiar face to Formula 1 fans around the world. His passing leaves a void not only in Hamilton’s life but also in the hearts of many who grew fond of the cheerful bulldog who often stole the spotlight during race weekends.
