After grossing more than $600 million at the global box office, the Formula 1 movie starring Brad Pitt is finally coming to the small screen. The film, titled simply F1, features Brad Pitt alongside Damson Idris and was directed by Joseph Kosinski. It was released in Italian cinemas in June 2025, following one of the most ambitious promotional campaigns ever seen for a motorsport-related movie.
The world of Formula 1 placed high expectations on this Hollywood production, which was filmed between 2023 and 2024 during actual Grand Prix weekends. The project was described by insiders as “unprecedented,” due to its extensive use of innovative on-board camera technology designed to replicate the authentic experience of racing in a Formula 1 car. The result was an immersive and realistic portrayal of the intensity and speed of the world’s most prestigious racing championship.
The film went on to earn an impressive $629 million at the global box office, making it not only the highest-grossing movie of Brad Pitt’s career, but also the most profitable production ever for Apple Original Films. In the film, Brad Pitt plays a former Formula 1 driver who returns to the paddock as a mentor to a young rising star, played by Damson Idris, while also attempting to save the struggling team of an old friend. The production also boasts Lewis Hamilton among its producers, who has been personally involved in the creative process and recently attended a special screening in Los Angeles.
Now, Apple TV+ has officially announced that the F1 movie starring Brad Pitt will be available to stream starting from December 12, 2025. This means fans around the world will soon be able to enjoy the high-octane spectacle from the comfort of their homes.
“It’s been amazing to see audiences across the world respond so passionately to the F1 movie in theaters,” said producer Jerry Bruckheimer. “We’re now thrilled to bring this breathtaking cinematic experience to even more fans worldwide through Apple TV’s incredible global reach. Working alongside Apple and Formula 1 has been an incredible journey, and we’re proud to give audiences everywhere the chance to feel the adrenaline and passion that define Formula 1.”
