In September, Formula 1 returns to Italy. After the unfortunate cancellation of Imola, the circus is ready to make a stop at Monza for the 2023 Italian Grand Prix. Bearing in mind the difficulties of the past edition, organizers have worked to enhance the fan experience over the three-day event in Brianza. Here are all the new features planned for the 2023 Monza GP.
Fanzone: Accessible on Thursday even without a ticket
Regarding the Fanzone, after last year’s confusion, the dedicated fan area will finally be accessible from Thursday onwards. The opening is scheduled for Thursday, August 31, at 2:00 PM, and the area will be accessible for free even without a ticket, exclusively from the entrance at Viale Mirabello. From Friday to Sunday, the Fanzone will welcome ticket holders from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Throughout the event, Formula 1 cars from the past and historic vehicles with which the drivers will parade before the Grand Prix will be on display. Fans will also have the chance to try Pit Stop simulations (with prizes for the fastest), compete on the latest generation simulators, and experience the thrill of standing on an F1 podium. Live bands and DJs will also keep the area lively throughout the event.
Prohibited Items:
As every year, the list of allowed (and not allowed) items within the Autodrome has been released. Specifically, the following items will be allowed: umbrellas without metal tips, chairs and stools (not made of wood), plastic bottles and water flasks not exceeding half a liter in capacity.
On the other hand, bicycles, scooters, drones, weapons and knives, glass items, tents, non-plastic and non-flexible flagpoles, spray cans, pyrotechnic materials, and tools are not permitted.
Entrances and Timings: Gates open at 7 AM
The five pedestrian entrances are confirmed (Vedano, Lesmo, Mirabello, Costa Alta, and Costa Bassa). Two new walkways have been added (Mirabello/Variante Ascari; Variante Ascari/entrance Santa Maria alle Selve) to facilitate and speed up public access. The gates will open at 7:30 AM on Friday and 7:00 AM on Saturday and Sunday. Closing time is scheduled for 8:00 PM.
Catering, Street Food, and Water Points: Flasks allowed
The organizers have arranged for 24 catering points where food and beverages can be purchased. Additionally, there will be 10 water points (free) managed by BrianzAcque, where fans can refill their own water flasks. Starting from this edition, it will finally be possible to bring half-liter water flasks into the venue. The restroom facilities have also been increased: nearly a thousand units (966) are spread across the entire facility area.
Large Screens: Increased to 31
Lastly, the number of large screens has been increased to 31 for this edition, positioned throughout the circuit to ensure not a moment of on-track action is missed.
