So far, the main point of pride has been the 335,000 spectators over the three days of the Italian GP in Monza. The record attendance for Charles Leclerc’s victory with the Ferrari SF-24 provides additional valuable data, derived from a study conducted by JFC on behalf of the Municipality of Monza, which commissioned an analysis of the direct, indirect, and induced economic impact of the race on the local area.
The survey, conducted on a sample of 3,000 spectators, resulted in an average rating of 5.3 out of 7. Notably, 48.3% of respondents stated that they intend to return this year.
A key finding was that 64.3% of attendees were from abroad, representing 69 different countries. The top five nationalities were: France (13.4%), Switzerland (11.3%), the United Kingdom (10.7%), Germany (5.6%), and Poland (4.9%).
As for Italian attendees, the main regions of origin were Lombardy (17.1%), Tuscany (14.7%), Lazio (12.7%), and Emilia-Romagna (11%).
The average age of spectators was around 37, with a significant presence of under-30s (38.7%) as well as over-50s (26.2%). Families with children made up 38.7% of attendees, while groups of friends accounted for 25%.
The study, which also explored the broader economic impact, estimated the total benefits of the event at over 339 million euros. More than 99 million euros came from direct spending, including ticket sales, food, hospitality, and commerce.
Indirect benefits, estimated at over 28 million euros, included event organization, goods and services from local businesses, public transportation, and regional services. Induced benefits, amounting to 21 million euros, covered workforce increases, additional spending in the area, and other general effects. Nearly 31 million euros were attributed to the supply chain legacy, while media exposure and brand value—based on the event’s presence in communication channels—brought the total media coverage value and brand enhancement to 160 million euros.

“The 100 million euros in direct economic impact for businesses involved in the event is the most significant figure, as it represents immediate revenue,” stated Massimo Feruzzi, CEO of JFC. “Moreover, it is clear that the overall 340 million euros in economic benefits reflect a management structure that is undoubtedly complex yet highly effective for the local economic system.”
“The Autodromo Nazionale Monza is extremely proud of the results of the study on the economic impact of the Italian F1 GP, commissioned by the Municipality of Monza, which highlights the importance of the circuit for both the local economy and beyond,” commented Giuseppe Redaelli, President of the Autodromo Nazionale Monza. “These results, while encouraging, are not an endpoint but rather the beginning of a promising phase of collaboration with institutions, launched in 2024. This renewed cooperation will require strong commitment in addressing new and increasingly essential challenges, with the goal of securing the presence of the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Monza for the next six years, competing with the world’s most prominent promoters.”
