The 2025 Italian Grand Prix at Monza will feature the stunning new ‘Chimera’ trophies for the podium finishers
The trophies that will be awarded on the podium at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza have been unveiled, and the first photos are already sparking debate among fans. Anticipation for the weekend at the Temple of Speed is high. Ferrari is called upon to deliver a strong performance to give its Tifosi a reason to celebrate after the major disappointment in Zandvoort, where the team suffered two retirements. The Scuderia is undoubtedly aiming for the podium and hopes to reach the top step, where it would receive the newly presented trophies, which are set to be the absolute protagonists of the 2025 Italian GP at Monza, even if the first images are dividing enthusiasts.
Unveiling the trophies for the top three finishers

The awards are inspired by the themes of mythology and speed, as was the case in 2022. The name chosen for this year’s edition is ‘Chimera,’ as explained by Pirelli in the official presentation.
“The top three drivers, together with a representative of the winning team, will also lift a very special trophy named ‘Chimera.’ The name was given by Nico Vascellari, the Italian artist responsible for the fifth edition of the project conceived by Pirelli and Pirelli HangarBicocca. Since 2021, an Italian artist has been entrusted with creating the trophy for the Italian Grand Prix, for which Pirelli is the Title Sponsor, bringing contemporary artistic expression from traditional art spaces to the circuits of Formula 1. The first commission in 2021 was given to Alice Ronchi, followed in 2022 by Patrick Tuttofuoco, in 2023 by Ruth Beraha, and in 2024 by Andrea Sala.”
“The theme of mythology and speed, previously explored with ‘Typhon’ in 2022, is revisited this year with ‘Chimera.’ The enigmatic sculpture created by Vascellari represents the movement of the three fastest creatures in the air, water, and on land: the peregrine falcon, the sailfish, and the cheetah. Their individual aerodynamics—wings and claws for the bird, the tail for the feline, and the fin for the fish—merge to create a single fantastic creature, evoking evolution, metamorphosis, and transformation. The trophies are made from aluminum, a lightweight material also used in the construction of Formula 1 cars, through a process that starts from a two-dimensional drawing, transformed via organic modeling and 3D resin printing, and culminates in lost-wax casting, one of the oldest sculpting techniques. This approach combines traditional craftsmanship with highly innovative methods,” the statement read.

The artist’s explanation
“The reference to the animal world in this trophy comes from the natural fascination it exerts on humans. It is an instinctive feeling that extends and expands our limits of speed, flight, and endurance. Animals are an endless source of inspiration. When I designed the trophy, I thought about the moment the driver lifts it above their head. A symbolic gesture to elevate the animal world and nature above us, in an attempt to restore balance. It is also a celebration of nature’s ability to inspire,” explained Nico Vascellari.
“Chimera” will be unveiled at Monza during the Pirelli Tyres Talk session, reserved for media, in the Pirelli Hot Laps garage (box 7) on Friday, September 5, immediately after the first Formula 1 practice session. Along with the artist, Aldo Costa, Chief Technical Officer of Dallara Automobili, and Mario Isola, Motorsport Director of Pirelli, will be present.
Podium Caps revealed
“The top three finishers will wear a unique Podium Cap, part of the 2025 collection produced by Pirelli Design with creative input from designer Denis Dekovic. The Monza Podium Cap features a blue inspired by the Italian sky over the ‘Temple of Speed’ and the logo of the 500th Grand Prix. Replicas are already available for purchase on the dedicated e-commerce platform.”
