Scuderia Ferrari arrives at the José Carlos Pace Circuit after Charles Leclerc’s podium finish in Mexico City and Carlos Sainz’s fourth-place position, which now puts him in the same spot in the driver’s standings, with three races to go until the end of the championship.. The circuit is better known as Interlagos because it is located between two lakes, on clayey terrain that tends to be unstable, accentuating the bumps on the asphalt.
The weekend format is, for the sixth and final time in this championship, the Sprint format, which includes a single free practice session on Friday, followed by qualifying for the Sunday Grand Prix (a total of 71 laps). Saturday will be entirely dedicated to the Sprint, with the morning Shootout and the approximately 100 km race in the afternoon (24 laps planned) offering points from eight to one for the top eight finishers.
Frédéric Vasseur, with just a few days ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix, said: “We arrive at the final stage of this complex American triplet: in São Paulo, we will be engaged in the last Sprint weekend of the season, the third in the last four Grands Prix. The two most recent races in Austin and Mexico City saw us shine in qualifying, with two consecutive pole positions for Charles and the all-Ferrari front row last Sunday, while in the race, we once again proved vulnerable to the attacks of our rivals. Nevertheless, we secured two podiums and were the team that collected the most points among those vying for second place, even though the values are very close, and it is clear that closing the gap that separates us from second place, which remained at 22 points after Mexico City, is always very difficult.” – the French manager pointed out, as reported by the Italian site’s official website.
The Team Principal of the Maranello team, speaking about the upcoming race, added: “What we are certainly ready to guarantee in Brazil is the utmost commitment from all of us. We expect Mercedes to be very competitive, but on our part, we must continue to work on ourselves, to grow and improve in every aspect, especially in tire management and race strategies. Carlos and Charles, like the whole team, are highly motivated in Brazil as in Maranello: we don’t want to stop until the checkered flag in Abu Dhabi.” – Fred Vasseur concluded ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix.
