Lewis Hamilton has launched a challenge to Lando Norris ahead of the 2025 Mexican Grand Prix, where he will start from third position. Following a strong performance in Austin, Lewis Hamilton continues his process of improvement, and in Mexico City he will line up immediately behind Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc. For the British Ferrari driver, this is his best qualifying result since leaving Mercedes, and he now aims to confirm his progress during the race.
Lewis Hamilton sets his sights on victory in Mexico City
The number 44, aside from his win in the Shanghai Sprint, has not yet secured his first podium with Ferrari and hopes to achieve it in Mexico City. However, he will not be satisfied with just third place, as he confirmed during the press conference with the top three qualifiers. “It’s been a little while since I last found myself in this situation. I’m really grateful to the team for their hard work and constant effort throughout the year. Obviously, I would have liked to be here a few races ago, but what matters is that we keep improving and stay positive,” Lewis Hamilton stated.
“That said, I’m relatively happy. As Charles said, it’s a really challenging circuit. Overall, we’re all sliding quite a bit; grip is rather low due to the altitude. But everyone is in the same situation, and our race pace has been excellent all weekend. I think we’ve made good progress with the car over the course of the weekend. Definitely, I want to be aggressive in the race. I have nothing to lose, whereas Lando does.” – the seven-time Formula 1 world champion pointed out – “So we’ll be quite aggressive, I’m sure. I hope we’ll be close enough to fight well,” the British driver added ahead of the Mexico City Grand Prix, which is set to take place at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.
