Formula 1’s transformation heading into 2026 is not only technical but also commercial. The championship has officially announced a multi-year agreement that will see Betway, a brand of Super Group, become the first “Official Betting Operator” in the history of the sport.
The strategic partnership will cover key markets including Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Canada, and Mexico. Through collaboration with ALT Sports Data, the official data supplier, the agreement will leverage the massive flow of real-time data generated by Formula 1 cars to deliver predictive analytics and competitive odds for live betting markets.
Betway’s entry into Formula 1 coincides with the debut of the highly anticipated 2026 technical regulations, marking one of the most significant seasons in the sport’s 76-year history. The real innovation lies in the ability for adult betting enthusiasts to place in-play wagers linked directly to race strategy and evolving on-track action.
Beyond simply betting on the race winner, fans will be able to engage with dynamic variables such as pit stop windows, Safety Car deployments, and wheel-to-wheel battles. The integration of regulated, real-time data aims to create a more immersive and interactive experience during race weekends.
Voices from the key figures
Jonny Haworth, Director of Commercial Partnerships at Formula 1, emphasized how fan engagement with live sporting events is increasingly driven by new forms of interaction. “Although betting and sport have long been closely linked, this new product offering based on real-time and regulated data brings F1 into a cutting-edge new dimension. It offers fans greater engagement and a more exciting experience,” the manager stated.
Neal Menashe, CEO of Super Group, echoed that sentiment, commenting: “We are thrilled to have signed a unique agreement in Formula 1 with our sports betting brand Betway. This partnership reinforces our commitment to sport at the highest level and will give our customers access to some of the most innovative markets during race weekends. With what promises to be a highly competitive season and fantastic races around the world, we cannot wait to be part of it.”
As Formula 1 prepares for sweeping regulatory changes on track in 2026, the sport is also accelerating its commercial evolution off track. The Betway partnership signals a new chapter in how fans can interact with Grands Prix, blending advanced data analytics with live entertainment in a way that reflects the modern digital era of motorsport.
