During the latest episode of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?”, a contestant was asked to answer a question related to Ferrari’s last world championship victory.
In the most recent episode of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?”, a contestant found himself facing a question dedicated to Ferrari’s recent history, once again bringing one of the most discussed topics among Formula 1 fans into the spotlight. During the so-called climb toward the million-euro prize, the quiz show presented a question worth €30,000, which immediately caught the attention of supporters of the Prancing Horse.
What was the question?
The question was clear yet at the same time tricky: “Who was the last Ferrari driver to win the Formula 1 world championship?” The possible answers included four well-known names from the recent history of the Maranello-based team:
A) Fernando Alonso
B) Sebastian Vettel
C) Kimi Räikkönen
D) Felipe Massa
The contestant was initially leaning toward answer C, but showed some hesitation. Upon rereading the question, doubts emerged about its exact meaning, as it could be interpreted in different ways by those who do not closely follow world championship statistics. After a few moments of reflection, however, the final choice fell on Kimi Räikkönen. It was the correct answer and allowed the contestant to continue the game, eventually reaching a final prize of €150,000.
The question was not merely a test of sporting knowledge, but also a reminder of Ferrari’s long wait. Despite being the most successful and iconic team in Formula 1 history, the Scuderia from Maranello has not won the drivers’ world championship since 2007.
Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel, despite numerous victories and seasons spent at the front in red, were unable to become world champions with Ferrari. Felipe Massa came extremely close in 2008, losing the title by just one point in the final race of the season. The last driver to achieve the feat therefore remains Kimi Räikkönen, the protagonist of a memorable campaign that was decided at the very last corner.
A simple quiz question that, once again, managed to tell almost twenty years of Ferrari history, filled with nostalgia, regrets, and hopes for the future.
