The Monaco Grand Prix, an iconic stop on the Formula 1 calendar, could feature a visual surprise from Ferrari. According to some rumours fueled by a reel published on Ferrari’s official social media channels, the Maranello team may be preparing a special livery to celebrate a significant anniversary on the streets of Monaco: 75 years of collaboration with Shell.
Special Ferrari livery at Monaco again?
The partnership between Ferrari and Shell is the longest-lasting in Formula 1 history: it began in 1929 with the first competitions and was formalized steadily in 1950 with the start of the World Championship. This collaboration has spanned decades of success, technological development, and innovation.
The video released by Ferrari shows the “Shell 75 Years” logo alongside the prancing horse, suggesting that this anniversary will be celebrated visibly during the weekend in the Principality.
Speculations on the look: darker red or commemorative logo?
The most likely hypotheses about the new livery revolve around two distinctive elements. The first is the introduction of a darker red, in homage to the historic Ferrari colours of the 1950s, the period during which the bond with Shell was solidified. A choice that would evoke the Maranello team’s most authentic racing DNA.
The other possibility concerns the presence of the celebratory “Shell 75 Years” logo in a prominent position on the SF-25’s bodywork. A direct nod to the milestone reached and to the strategic role of the multinational oil company in the development of Ferrari’s modern power units.
Ferrari is no stranger to celebratory liveries in Monte Carlo: one need only think of the yellow look in 2022 or the white-blue one during partnerships with title sponsors. The Monaco GP thus continues to be not only an elite sporting event but also a privileged showcase to celebrate the team’s history and identity.
We just have to wait for the Monaco weekend to begin to find out what form this tribute to Shell will take, a symbol of the continuity and technical excellence that has accompanied the Prancing Horse on track for three-quarters of a century.
