“I hope you like the red.” Just a few hours after the historic announcement by Ferrari officially confirming the arrival of the 7-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton in Maranello from 2025, the Prancing Horse team has released a photo – perhaps a teaser? – of a component of the SF-24, the car that will compete in the 2024 Formula 1 World Championship.
The upcoming Ferrari car, set to be unveiled on the afternoon of February 13, according to information gathered by Motorsport.com, is expected to have more yellow in its livery. Meanwhile, a photo of a wheel has been released on social media. A rather mundane detail, for sure, but with a difference compared to the past year.
The metal wheel cover is no longer black but red. Accompanying it are two lines that form concentric circles towards the nut that secures the wheel to the hub. The first of these, the wider one, is yellow and will pick up the same shade that will also be used on the bodywork. The second, however, is white. The details of the nut – which remains black – are yellow.
Perhaps a small preview of the SF-24 by the Scuderia, which is riding the overwhelming wave of Lewis Hamilton’s arrival in 2025. Meanwhile, the SF-24 was fully assembled just a few days ago, underwent a fire-up with the start of the power unit to verify that the assembly was done correctly, and moved to the Maranello dynamometer for very important tests that will precede its on-track debut.
The first kilometers of the SF-24 will be covered on February 13 shortly after the presentation on the Fiorano track. The new Red will complete 15 kilometers allowed by the sporting regulations for the Shakedown, for a maximum of 5 laps.
