Scuderia Ferrari will hit the track immediately after the unveiling of the SF-24 single-seater for the 2024 Formula 1 Championship, conducting a shakedown of the new Formula 1 car. Why will the shakedown be so important for the Italian side after the presentation of the SF-24 for the 2024 F1 World Championship? On February 13, the covers will be lifted off Maranello’s latest creation, which will promptly taste the Fiorano circuit. The car will cover the 200km designated for the first of the two filming days available to the teams. But why will this “test” be so crucial?
The new Formula 1 season is just around the corner. Teams are gearing up to take their creations onto the track for the first time after a long (and challenging) winter of work. With the reduction in test days, it becomes crucial to make the most of the few opportunities to test the cars outside of the simulator. A first encounter that can provide immediate valuable insights.
When Ferrari brings the new SF-24 to the Fiorano track, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will have the chance to test the car and see if they feel comfortable in the cockpit. It will also be an opportunity for the engineering team in Maranello to gather initial data from the car. Initially, the focus will be on verifying the functionality of all systems on the car.
With specially provided tires from Pirelli, it will still be impossible to gather information on the tires. Pushing to the maximum is out of the question, but a taste of the potential of the SF-24 will be within the capabilities of the two drivers and the technicians. Thanks to the new FIA regulations, Ferrari can exploit 200km of testing, rather than the 100km allocated until the last season.
