Through the columns of his blog on quotidiano.net, Formula 1 journalist and expert Leo Turrini made some considerations ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix, focusing on Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc and the incident that made him an unwitting protagonist in qualifying, as Charles received a three-place grid penalty for today’s Monte Carlo event due to blocking the McLaren of Lando Norris, despite the fact that it was not his fault, but rather the Maranello team’s pit wall was to blame.
Here are his comments:
Leo Turrini’s remarks
“To have Carletto [Leclerc] three places back due to ineffective radio communication refers to the triumphs and failures of the Mattia Binotto era. As always, and more than ever, personalizing is wrong,” Leo Turrini begins, referring to the penalty imposed on Charles Leclerc for impeding Lando Norris. “I regret the therapeutic insistence of those who still haven’t understood how complicated Formula One is. Some of them are even my friends: they just don’t get it, applying football logic to a relentlessly distinct and distant matter,” he adds. He then continues to write: “Charles Leclerc will do his best. I admire him for his resilience. When he says ‘this is the car,’ I feel like hugging him.” – the Italian journalist admitted.
Finally, he focuses on Max Verstappen, who achieved a simply extraordinary pole position yesterday: “I saw the last part of Max Verstappen’s lap, after the second sector. Enough with the discussions. This Dutchman is an absolute phenomenon. I know very well that in Formula 1, without a top car, you can be Mandrake, but in the end, you lose. But Max, even now, is one of the greatest of all time. Like Senna, like Prost, like Schumi, like Hamilton.” – Leo Turrini concluded at the end of the qualifying session in Monaco.
