After a difficult 2025, Charles Leclerc is leading Ferrari toward a new era, built on bold strategies, a new car concept and the hope of returning Maranello to the top of Formula 1.
Despite a complicated 2025 for Scuderia Ferrari, Charles Leclerc managed to secure important results, showing leadership and resilience in a season dominated by technical difficulties and the transition toward the 2026 regulations.
Leclerc ended the year with seven podium finishes, securing fifth place in the Drivers’ Championship, while Lewis Hamilton struggled to find the right rhythm during his first season with the Maranello-based team.
“Charles is connected to the team and the team is connected to Charles by definition,” explained Fred Vasseur. “He did a great job this year. In difficult moments, he was there to push the team because he knows everyone perfectly and understands how to get the best out of the situation. It was a really strong 2025,” added the team principal.
Vasseur also highlighted how certain circumstances penalised the team, such as in Brazil: “It was a difficult weekend, one that probably made us lose second place [in the Constructors’ Championship]. Every problem has a direct impact on points and benefits our rivals, but overall Leclerc had an extraordinary season.”
The technical context and the challenges for 2026
The real test for Ferrari will not only be building a competitive car for the start of the 2026 championship, but also creating a concept that can be developed consistently and aggressively throughout the entire five-year regulatory cycle.
“It’s about spending wisely, choosing the right developments at the right time and then delivering strong weekends on track to maximise performance,” said Vasseur. “The positive side of last season was also the collective reaction to the situation, and that will be useful for the future.”
With the new technical regulations approaching, Ferrari is aiming for a revival that goes beyond a single season. “We have a lot of hopes for 2026, like everyone on the grid. It’s a new challenge, we are starting from zero and we know that you cannot predict what will happen in Melbourne. We have to focus on development, on the team and on production, without wasting energy discussing others,” Fred Vasseur concluded.
The message is clear: despite a complex 2025, Ferrari heads into 2026 with confidence and with a driver capable of leading the team toward a genuine rebirth. Charles Leclerc remains the beating heart of the Scuderia, ready to turn the difficulties of the past into a launchpad for the future.
