Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari project is now moving towards the top of the team

Lewis Hamilton, Ferrari, 2026 F1

Lewis Hamilton produced a remarkable performance at Sepang. The seven-time Formula 1 world champion showed all his ability and experience on the Malaysian circuit, rebuilding a race that had appeared lost after Ferrari’s initial strategy error and eventually securing an impressive third place. However, Lewis Hamilton is not only making an impact on track with the SF-26. Inside Ferrari, the British driver is also changing established dynamics, earning trust and building a strong group of engineers around him while beginning to reshape the working methods traditionally used at Maranello.

Lewis Hamilton begins a process of renewal at Ferrari

With his strong personality and the authority that comes from being a multiple world champion, Lewis Hamilton is becoming increasingly influential within Ferrari, modifying the team’s working methods and surrounding himself with an increasingly solid group of engineers.

The British driver is gradually extending his influence within the team and gaining considerably more freedom to express his ideas than champions such as Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel were ever afforded during their respective periods at Maranello.

Lewis Hamilton was also signed to help bring change to Ferrari, drawing on the working methods and experience he developed at Mercedes, as well as everything else he has learned throughout his Formula 1 career.

According to sources close to the British driver, as reported by Autoracer.it, Lewis Hamilton is fulfilling precisely that role. He is changing Ferrari’s established routine and giving the team much greater awareness both of the car’s problems and of the priorities that need to be addressed.

Lewis Hamilton builds a trusted Ferrari engineering group

Lewis Hamilton has managed to establish a strong working group around himself and is now attempting to extend his approach across the wider team. His efforts form part of a broader discussion around the working culture Lewis Hamilton wants Ferrari to rediscover as the seven-time world champion continues trying to influence how Maranello responds to its weaknesses.

The method appears to have also attracted the attention of Charles Leclerc. The Monegasque has acknowledged that the working approach developed by his Ferrari teammate is interesting and has himself started moving closer to some of the principles Lewis Hamilton follows.

Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari influence now looks towards the top

The process started by Lewis Hamilton, however, is now aiming considerably higher: towards Ferrari’s senior leadership. To reach that level and persuade the management to make further changes to certain internal dynamics, the British driver will have to push even harder along the path he has begun to establish, presenting increasingly strong arguments and, above all, gaining support from a growing number of people within the team.

Lewis Hamilton certainly has the personality required to succeed in such an ambitious undertaking. The next challenge will be demonstrating that he also has enough influence to transform his method into an integral part of the way Ferrari operates.
