After a complicated start to the 2025 Formula season, Charles Leclerc says he is ready to fight until the final race with his Ferrari, which is set for new updates. The Monegasque driver highlighted how crucial the upcoming developments on the Ferrari SF-25 will be, especially to close the gap with a currently dominant McLaren.
Charles Leclerc has claimed three podiums in the last five races, including second place in Monaco and third in Barcelona. Two extremely different circuits, yet number 16 showed consistency and adaptability. Despite the ongoing issues with balance and ride height that continue to hinder the SF-25, both Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton have managed to bring the Prancing Horse to second place in the Constructors’ Championship.
What updates are expected on the Ferrari SF-25?
The gap remains significant: no less than 197 points from McLaren. Charles Leclerc explained that he does not want to look too far ahead: “I don’t want to think too much in the long term, simply because I have no idea what might actually happen. I know what’s coming for us in terms of small tweaks and improvements to the car, but I don’t know what the other teams are preparing, so it’s very hard to predict or expect anything.”
The Monegasque acknowledges the strength of his rivals but has no intention of giving up. “On paper, it will be difficult to beat McLaren in a year like this, where they have been dominant in the first part of the season. It will be very difficult, but I’ll give everything until the end.”
Finally, Charles Leclerc emphasized the importance of the updates to try and turn things around. “I hope that, with the new parts, as soon as possible, we can take the lead in terms of on-track performance. Only then can we hope for something better, but we can’t afford to lose too many races.” – the Monegasque driver pointed out.
Meanwhile, F1 will return to Canada after a one-week break before pausing again ahead of the return to Europe with the Spielberg round at the Red Bull Ring. It’s in Austria that Ferrari is expected to bring a new floor to kick off an entirely new package of updates yet to be unveiled.
