The engineer market is heating up at Alpine as the French team has secured a significant addition. Eric Meignan, an engineer recently separated from his ties with Ferrari, is joining Alpine.
Eric Meignan is taking on the role of Technical Director at Alpine. As reported on the official Formula 1 website, he has already commenced his work for the French team at their base in Viry in October.
Alpine’s new Technical Director has recently gathered valuable experiences within the motorsport world, having worked with Mercedes and, notably, Ferrari. At Maranello, he had joined from Mercedes, where he held the position of Head of Department and Chief Engineer for Mercedes High-Performance Powertrains.
For Scuderia Ferrari, he had been the Head of Department, a role he left recently after three and a half years of service.
According to a spokesperson as reported on the official Formula 1 website: “We can confirm that Eric Meignan has joined the team as Technical Director in Viry, reporting to Famin.”
What exactly will be Eric Meignan’s role? The same aforementioned spokesperson provides the details: “Meignan brings a wealth of experience with him. He will oversee the development of the Alpine power unit, with a specific focus on the 2026 regulations.”
The arrival of Eric Meignan at Alpine is one of the pieces in the team’s revolution, which, in July 2023, bid farewell to Team Principal Otmar Szafnauer and Technical Director Alan Permane.
