Alexander Albon has commented on the recent rumors linking him to a potential move to Scuderia Ferrari in 2025, replacing Carlos Sainz, not denying that he feels honored to be associated with the Prancing Horse. Although the Thai driver’s contract technically expires at the end of this Formula One season, all the prerequisites seem to be in place for a contract extension with Williams, or even a leap to a top team.
Alex Albon to Ferrari in 2025 in place of Carlos Sainz? Williams driver’s response
“If the rumors about Ferrari can motivate me? Yes, I would say so,” the Thai driver told the media in the Budapest paddock yesterday afternoon, during the press conference for the Hungarian Grand Prix – “Positive rumors are always nice. They underline how well this season has gone so far. I am very happy to hear these rumors. Even if they are just rumors, I can’t complain.” – he pointed out.
Alexander Albon is clearly flattered to have been linked with the most successful team in Formula 1. Despite Ferrari not going through its best moment in recent history, the allure of driving the red car remains unchanged. Especially when considering the setback suffered by Red Bull at the end of the 2020 Formula One season.
The former driver of the Milton Keynes team took his revenge after being unceremoniously shown the door by Christian Horner and Helmut Marko, who chose to bet on the experienced Sergio Perez to pair up with Max Verstappen.

Nevertheless, Williams decided to give him a second chance, and the results from last year to date have been improving from race to race. Currently, Alexander Albon is in thirteenth place in the drivers’ standings ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix. With a respectable 11 points earned, he has effectively carried the team on his shoulders, unlike an anonymous Logan Sargeant.
Together with an FW45 that seems to be heading in the right direction, this is allowing the driver to consistently hover around the points zone, with a splendid eighth place finish at the Silverstone circuit in the British Grand Prix two weeks ago. It remains to be seen whether the Ferrari rumors have a solid foundation or if Carlos Sainz will ultimately continue his adventure with the Maranello team.
