In recent days, the Formula 1 world focused on the final pre-season testing session which took place in Bahrain, with just one week ahead of the first round of the new Formula 1 championship, but Ferrari is also working behind the scenes to secure a contract extension for Carlos Sainz as soon as possible.
Carlos Sainz has impressed in his first season alongside the Maranello team after replacing four-time Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel. In his first campaign with Ferrari, Carlos Sainz helped the Italian side beat McLaren to finish third in the Formula 1 Constructor Standings, while at the same time finishing ahead of his Maranello teammate Charles Leclerc in the championship. The Spanish driver has therefore has earned an equal status within the team and will also receive a contract extension for the following years.
With Charles Leclerc having a long-term deal with the Maranello team, Scuderia Ferrari will therefore count on its current line-up for until at least the 2025 season.
In a recent interview at the Bahrain International Circuit, Carlos Sainz explained: “It’s no secret that we are in the renewal phase what I don’t know exactly is when the time will come when we will agree on everything. We are all happy, there is progress,” = the Spanish driver added.

Carlos Sainz, who will be starting his second campaign with Ferrari and will line up for his 141st Grand Prix start in Bahrain on Sunday 20 March, completed more laps than any other driver in the pre-season testing session at the Sakhir circuit.
Scuderia Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto confirmed: “We are working on it every day, the intent is common and it’s just a matter of details to get to the conclusion.”
Carlos Sainz has proven his value on track but is also a huge property outside it, particularly in Spain where he is expected to take over the mantle of Fernando Alonso to keep F1 passion burning in Spain where traditionally MotoGP is king.
As a result, Ferrari is adorned with Spanish companies seeking affiliation with their driver, including a big contract renewal with banking giant Santander and Estrella Galicia beer.
