The imminent final of the 2020 European football championship scheduled tonight between Italy and England is also heating the spirits between various Formula 1 teams. Inevitably, despite having the Mercedes formally ‘German flag’, the Italian-British dualism has also rekindled the rivalry between the Mercedes and Ferrari. Unfortunately in recent seasons the Maranello team has struggled on track to keep up with the cars of the Brackley team. However, in the headquarters of the dominant team of the last seven seasons, the rivalry with the Italian side is still particularly strong.
The match between Azzurri and The Three Lions scheduled at Wembley stadium today was enough to rekindle the social teasing by Mercedes: in a video posted on its Twitter profile, Mercedes showed the sticking, next to Ferrari logo on a red background, the badge of the English national football team, complete with the writing ‘It’s coming home’, the ‘mantra’ song that accompanies Southgate’s team in this European event. In the morning, the Maranello team settled for a more traditional “Forza Azzurri”, launching the challenge – together with AlphaTauri – to the three ‘officially’ British teams: McLaren, Williams and Aston Martin.
