The FIA has confirmed the zones where it will be possible to use the Drag Reduction System (DRS) in the Belgian Grand Prix, the 12th round of the 2021 Formula 1 World Championship.
After the sensational victory of Esteban Ocon before the last summer break and the controversy between Mercedes and Red Bull over the crash generated by Valtteri Bottas in Budapest, teams and drivers will return to battle at the splendid Spa-Francorchamps track, this year confirmed with the audience capacity at 100% (last year the race was held behind closed doors due to the Coronavirus emergency).
The FIA, for this weekend, has chosen to activate two DRS zones, which will be positioned on the main straight of the circuit located on the Ardennes and in the extension (Kemmel) that leads from Radillon to Les Combes. The zones will each have an activation point, which will be placed before the Bus Stop and Eau Rouge.
The weekend program, we recall, includes two free practice sessions lasting one hour on Friday and FP3 on Saturday morning. These 60 minutes of work on the track will be the last chance for teams and drivers to work on the set-up in view of qualifying, scheduled for the same day at 15.00. Green light on Sunday afternoon at the same time as qualifying.
