The aerodynamic genius has yet to decide
The month of August will most likely be decisive for the future of Adrian Newey. The technician left Red Bull on May 1st and, after the first quarter of 2025, he can officially join a new team. Scuderia Ferrari is among the main candidates to be the next destination for the well-known aerodynamic engineer, although, as we have explained, there are some issues to resolve to complete the dream team, alongside the already official arrival of Lewis Hamilton in Maranello starting with the 2025 Formula 1 championship.
David Coulthard, a familiar face around the paddock and on our TV screens, recently excluded Ferrari and McLaren from the possible options for Adrian Newey’s future in motorsport. According to the former Scottish driver, Adrian Newey will join Aston Martin, and he supported his thesis with the following: “A senior source told me he won’t go to Ferrari, and it wouldn’t make sense for McLaren to take Adrian Newey now that they have already figured out how to make the car work properly.” – he pointed out.
Eddie Jordan, who Adrian Newey’s manager or at least consultant during this phase of negotiations with the teams, denied David Coulthard’s statements: “These are inaccurate and unrealistic reconstructions of the events. Adrian Newey is still in the middle of the decision-making process, and at this moment he is enjoying his free time, experiencing things he previously couldn’t due to professional commitments.” Eddie Jordan also pointed out that he is sure of only one thing: “What is certain is that it is now too late for Red Bull to change Adrian Newey’s mind by keeping him in Milton Keynes with a new contract.” – he concluded.
