According to the former Ferrari driver, both Bernie Ecclestone and the FOM, along with the FIA, allegedly acted together to cover up the events in Singapore in 2008, the infamous Crashgate scandal, presenting it instead as an unintentional incident. Felipe Massa has long maintained that if the truth had come to light immediately, he would have won the 2008 World Championship.
Following the judge’s decision, Felipe Massa stated: “This is an extraordinary victory, an important day for me, for justice, and for all Formula 1 fans.” According to Motorsport.com, his lawyers can now request additional documents to support their claims, including emails and text messages from the defendants, who will be required to cooperate.
“The Court has recognized the strength of our case and has not allowed the defendants to suppress the truth about 2008. That deliberate incident cost me a world championship, and the authorities at the time chose to cover up the facts rather than defend the integrity of the sport,” the Brazilian continued.
“They tried every way possible to block the case, but our battle is for justice, and today we have taken a decisive step. The truth will come out at trial. We will investigate every detail: documents, communications, and evidence proving the conspiracy among the defendants will be brought to light.” – the former Ferrari driver concluded.
